Rules: The car/truck had to be sold brand new in 2008
For me it is the Cadillac XLR-V one only a few American grand tourers that have ever been made. With a supercharged Northstar V8 engine I also appreciate that the engine is unique to the Cadillac lineup and not just another LS swap into a Cadillac (although those are great too).

That might be my favorite Acura. Looks great and understated but the car is just such a great performance sedan.

Yeah I want the SLR 722 but even the regular SLR is one of the greatest cars made in this millennium

These are never going to go down in value...

I really like the XLR, but since you already took it, I’ll go with the S2000

I have had 4 comments on this post and now 2 are the S2000. It is very popular!

S2000 CR
In either Apex Blue Pearl
or Grand Prix White
I still really want to own one of these cars someday. I love them.

I agree! I am about to pick up my Dad’s ‘04 A-spec.

Boxster S or Cayman S. Probably the Boxster. Extra rigidity is all well and good, but the 987 Boxster is already brilliant and a pleasant road on a nice day with the top down is a wonderful thing.

2008 Lincoln Mark LT
Because if I want a Fancy F150, I’m getting a FANCY F-150.
And this one (unlike the blackwood) is 4x4 and can tow almost 9000 pounds.
And it looks even better than the F150 of the same year in my opinion. I would daily drive the hell out of this thing, even with the 5.4L

One of my favorite cars that have ever been made

2008 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. Peppy, stick, comes with tons of features, is reasonably comfortable, has an LSD, and is an excellent platform to build on. Plus, it’s essentially a Renault Megane underneath, which is pretty cool.

To continue the Cadillac love, CTS-V! First year of the new beast gen
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:43 |

I think I would buy a Boxster S form this generation or a Boxster Spyder over almost any other Porsche

Right?! And with the factory hard top included, they just look so good. There are a couple that run with the Chicago Region SCCA for autox. One is ABP with white Desmond Regamaster wheels, it looks soooo good.

The Mark LT is a greta truck. But I love the King Ranch more

I was sorely tempted to get rid of the M3 in favour of a nice example that popped up locally not long ago, but it got snapped up (unsurprisingly - the price was reasonable and the IMS and RMS had been done).

Judge me but my mom’s Vue is still my favorite car I’ve ever driven. It just needed a body kit and a little more low, so a Redline AWD for me. 257hp, torquey V6 ftw.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:49 |

Supposedly that’s supposed to be coming some time around 2019. I wouldn’t have been able to afford one then, I still can’t afford one now.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:50 |

Depends on whether you want farm luxury or city luxury.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:50 |

I struggle with that, because I’m a huge Toyota fan, but it’s hard to argue against Honda’s performance offerings. I’d say Toyota was winning in the ‘80s-mid ‘90s, and then Honda kind of took the helm from there. Now they’re both kinda shitting the bed, apart from the FR-S/GT86 and NSX.

There is always be another Boxster to snap up though

There isn’t many things made in 2008 that I would really lust for. Maybe a Porsche 911 GT3 RS or an Aston Martin Vantage (manuel) could be fun. I guess an S2000 could be a budget solution if I would really need to actually buy it. But currently they are still way too expensive for me.

Same boat. G8 GXP with the stick, please.

TIL you’re Birdman.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:54 |

I agree. I just love high revving NA engines and that is Honda’s strong suit
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:55 |

It’s neat. I’d have mine with K-sport Kontrol coilovers, a Spec Stage 3 clutch, DC header, Magnaflow cat, Borla cat-back, Powerstop Z26 brake kit, Injen intake, and a Bully Dog GT Platinum.

I live and grew up around farms so farm luxury for me here
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:57 |

Not a bad choice at all. Little ugly but unique
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:57 |

The S2000 isn’t horrible but still higher than I ever thought it would be in 08.

Damn it must have been a fast little sleeper
![]() 04/20/2016 at 11:58 |

I’m much more suburban in my up-bringing/current life. While I like the KR (in every truck it’s in) I prefer the city luxury

STS with the Northstar V8 in grey.

Technically the new Impreza does come in a hatchback, as it’s a separate production line from the WRX and STI. But yeah, too bad it doesnt get the hotted up treatment (and doing it yourself just isnt the same)
Knew someone who autocrossed one. Didn’t go so well.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant “I’d have mine” not “I had mine.”
04/20/2016 at 12:01 |

I’m not sure if I agree with you on that. That headlight’s sharp corner bothers me slightly. The facelift fixed that but the facelift’s lights look a bit off too (maybe it’s the led strips). Still these are very good looking cars.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 12:05 |
|
USA Launch date was 2008. :)
![]() 04/20/2016 at 12:07 |

We are totally reverse on this. I think the facelift XKR is the one not to buy and the headlights sharp corners on the pre facelift give the XKR a defining look.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 12:09 |
|
As everyone else is saying, the S2K. The only newer Honda I’d buy is the new NSX.

2008? F150 Harley Davidson edition with the dealer installed Saleen Supercharger.
Not a bad place to spend some time.

I’d go for a Merc C63 AMG. Because POOWWWWEEEERRRR and it’s one of the best looking sedans out there.

Pretty sure I was in driver’s ed in 2008... But if I was born in 1980, I would’ve bought a shiny new blue R32!
(I was a VW nerd back in the day...)

I think I’ve said this before, but Subaru Legacy Diesel.
I also hope this will be my next car.

135i

The first gen cars have been available in the USA in grey market form ever since 2002, but the second gen car reached our shores in 2008 a year after it launched in the EU in 2008. :)

That is a great looking Mercedes

Love the look of this little BMW
![]() 04/20/2016 at 14:56 |

The 135i is underrated to me, it had an inline six with twin turbos originally(switched to a single turbo in 2011ish). Small, fairly analog driving experience. Room for two real people in the back. I hope to get a 1 series in the not too distant future.

Anton Martin Vantage GT2
or for a little more seriously
Holden VE Commodore HSV W427
7.0L of GM LS greatness!! (503 bhp w/ 470 lb·ft)

Once again I wish Australian cars were imported more often
![]() 04/20/2016 at 19:35 |

Well I mean you could get a G8 GXP, but that’d wouldn’t be the same.
![]() 04/20/2016 at 20:11 |

Well, this is what I bought in 2010, so I guess the answer would have been the same in 2008 - the car would have just been slightly older.
